Why are more and more people turning to meditation as an effective way to cope with anxiety and confusion? Breaths was born from this question, aiming to explore the growing role of meditation in contemporary life by combining introspection with scientific research. The documentary features stories and reflections from artists, athletes, and scholars: from volleyball champion Myriam Sylla to singer-songwriter Alberto Fortis; from Andrea Loreni, the tightrope walker who meditates before walking a wire at Parco Dora in Turin, to artist Michelangelo Pistoletto in his “Third Paradise” project in Biella; and musicians like Vicio of Subsonica and Livio of Bluvertigo, who co-lead a meditation based workshop in Avigliana. Alongside them, neuroscientists, psychologists, and university professors explain the benefits of meditation and its links to the field of contemplative studies. Breaths is a journey through personal experience and scientific evidence, presenting meditation as an accessible and transformative resource—one that brings awareness into everyday life by exploring the breath between silence and movement, within and around us
The goal of this documentary is to introduce audiences to the world of meditation, an area still little known and often misunderstood. Through interviews, personal stories, and lived experiences, we aim to present an accessible and relatable narrative that helps break down stereotypes and prejudice. Our intention is to offer a clear and human portrait of meditation, highlighting its true value as a universal practice of awareness, inner listening, and personal transformation.
