Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mysterious death of 21-year-old David Dragičević sparks a national outcry: official claims of accidental drowning are contradicted by evidence of violence and a second autopsy. The “Pravda za Davida” movement, led by David’s father Davor, ignites 280 days of protest, uniting communities across ethnic lines. This unity is embodied in the alliance between Davor, a Serb, and Muriz Memić, a Bosniak, whose son Dženan also died under similar circumstances. Once on opposing sides during the Bosnian War, they now fight together against the very institutions they once served. This documentary captures their ongoing struggle for justice, exposing systemic abuse and the fragile hope for a more united future.
Once we first set foot in Bosnia, it didn’t take us long to realise that the most evident marks of the conflict were not the ones left on the buildings but rather the ones left on the people. The case of Davor Dragičević and his son David stands as a moment that, for the first time in over twenty years, brought together all three of Bosnia’s ethnic groups in a cohesive movement demanding justice. Davor’s personal transformation is central to this renewed unity. A former Bosnian Serb soldier and first-category fighter, he was once a symbol of loyalty to Republika Srpska. Yet today, he openly states that going back, he would refuse to fight for its institutions. This unity was possible because, despite living in isolated worlds, all three ethnic groups recognized a shared problem: the corruption and impunity of the ruling institutions. For once, they could all agree on something—they were all victims.
