Larvae is a project for a feature film that aims to develop in an evolved form the captivating story with gothic atmospheres whose roots were yet proposed and tested in a short film that received great acclaim. It is a film that moves between science, hidden truths and unknown forces with the feeling of "doubt" that accompanies all phases of the story. This film is inspired by Cesare Lombroso, whose lesser-known side is linked to his research on Spiritism, a topic that fascinated him enough to write an essay on it which he completed a few hours before his death. And it is precisely the legitimate doubt of the scientist who does not stop at stating the facts, but wants to delve deeper into them without stopping only at the scientific method, which must unite those who see the film. Is what the characters see really tangible or are they subjective interpretations of the facts? Today we all live in an era in which it becomes difficult to distinguish the fake from the real, very often we are content to simply accept the plausible. Lombroso moved in an era of great innovations and we find ourselves, just like him, seeing a world that transforms too quickly and that we often no longer understand: we can therefore identify with him when, faced with "unknown" situations, we decide to delve deeper and explore. With this film, in its feature film form, the intent is to spectacularize a story inspired by real historical figures, but imagining what could have happened during the exploration of supernatural themes by those who, due to scientific education, initially mocked and denied them .
