For twelve years, Lorenzo, sixty years old, has been the school manager of a primary school in Turin. But he prefers to be called 'principal', or rather 'educational director'. In this apparently banal choice, there is instead a precise and extremely conscious idea of the world and of struggle. The struggle to prevent the destruction of public education, which Lorenzo has seen take place for forty years now. And it is this struggle that the film wants to follow, in an attempt to explain through it the state of contemporary public education and the reasons for its crucial importance for the well-being of society as a whole.
By bringing together the reflections of international intellectuals and the story of a Turin headmaster's struggle, the film has the ambition of bringing the debate on the problems of public schools back to the centre of attention in the collective imagination. It is a documentary with a strong emotional tension, which wants to make complex and yet very important topics warm for everyone's life.
