A last-place finisher who triumphed in races and in life, creating the myth of winning in reverse: Luigi Malabrocca, a professional cyclist when cycling was the country's most beloved sport, became known as "the last one" par excellence. He was the first to earn the famous black jersey of the "Giro d'Italia", enjoying the same fame as Coppi and Bartali. Born and raised in Tortona, he became a symbol of resilience in post-war Italy, embodying the spirit of the Italians who, with cunning and creativity, dug through the rubble to rebuild, grow, and reinvent themselves. Today, his legacy is embraced by the Brigata Malabrocca, a light-hearted group of cycling enthusiasts who seek, through solidarity and collaboration, a sustainable alternative to the logic of obsessive competition, carrying their message to the world through the crazy dream of finishing last in the "Giro d'Italia".
Eutropia Film is a young production company with significant experience in international executive production and several ambitious projects in development, eager to showcase its potential. We consider L’ultimo Vincente a multi-layered documentary, interpretable on various levels from the lightest to the deepest, centered around an unforgettable character who conveys a message of humanity that is both powerful and universal. It is a project aligned with our current capabilities and mediumterm company goals, for which we have received encouraging signals from the early stages of development, such as the partnership with Saga Film. For these reasons, we are confident that other partners and distribution entities will soon join our "brigade," recognizing and embracing the core values at the heart of the work: solidarity, kindness, and empathy, the same qualities that made our Luigi Malabrocca famous.
