In the near, very near future, those who want to seek treatment will have to have great economic opportunities. But conversely, those who want to become a doctor will have to, in addition to a degree and a specialization course, attend a thirty-day internship during which they will personally suffer all the pain and suffering attributable to the chosen specialty. However, this will allow those who manage to survive to enter a circle of a select few who will have the gift of the “Cure”. Luca Astolfi, the protagonist, a young twenty-five year old who is ambitious and not inclined to listen to others, after an excellent course of studies chooses Geriatrics as an internship. According to his mentor, a specialty that is not very invasive, not very risky and with many opportunities to get rich. Thus he begins to do his internship at the University Clinic of his city, entering a real tunnel of horror and suffering. But is it worth it?
The project is the result of twelve years of suffering. A long period of time that allowed us to write a paradoxical, sarcastic, crude story that however has a profound authenticity. The intent is to talk about the discomfort that the patient experiences which goes beyond the suffering he is already afflicted with. The idea of film starts from a paradox that can be taken into consideration in two ways: a slapstick that turns political correctness upside down, or a careful criticism of the world of the "sick" seen as an object and not as a person who suffers and whose suffering is overshadowed. Fiction allows you to cross every limit: the paradox used in the film is the most useful tool ever to wink at reality but at the same time allows you to go further without judgment or moralism. The paradox is used in this case to stimulate reflection on the topic of pain and the situation that sick people experience on a daily basis. Not a complaint, but rather a firm analysis that can and must develop a constructive debate.
