Thousands of women actively struggle for liberation during the Resistance. For most of them, young girls of just under 20 years, was the first great experience of political participation and discovery of themselves and of their rights. The women's emancipation movement starts in Italy thanks to the Resistance.
"Do not be afraid, I will not delay the lunch, I will talk about three minutes.
I wish that in this historical study of the CLN we could talk for a moment of the Women's Defense Groups. And I must confess that when I came here to talk, I was annoyed, because I say it, I just have to come and talk to women? All men who have spoken before me, maybe they think that talking about women is not manly?
Then, I would like that some young students, regardless of sex, wanted to make an object of study what has been the women's movement during the Resistance, from September 8 to 25 April, and finally to see what was the action of women in the various Administrations or government positions who had later then. "
Thus began the intervention (short) of the only partisan woman who spoke at the conference of the CLN held in 1965, Ada Gobetti.
The registration of this intervention was found inside the dell'ANCR archives, and is the only existing recording, still unpublished.
This intervention is above all a request: to shed light on women's movement, which began, according to Ada Gobetti, whit the Resistance.
This request it felt still today: despite the passage of more than 50 years, there is still the need, in my opinion, to tell the Resistance from the point of view of women, without rhetoric and uncensored.
