“Futur Festival L'arca del Dora” is competing in the short film section, while “Ritratti di cinema” will be screened in the Zibaldone section, alongside the 8th edition of TFI Torino Film Industry – a meeting, market and workshop alongside the TFF as the work and business hub of the city's historic film event – which will see the presentation of the Match Award.
Two projects produced with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte will be presented at the 43rd edition of the Torino Film Festival, once again directed by Giulio Base.
These are the short film “Futur Festival L'arca del Dora” directed by Eleonora Danco and Marco Tecce - produced by Smiling Sisters LTD with executive production by Elephant Studio SRL in collaboration with Movement Entertainment SRL - which will be presented in competition.
The project shines the spotlight on the Kappa FuturFestival, one of the world's best-known electronic music events, to explore the relationship between young people and techno music, combining languages ranging from cinema to theatre and video art.
The Zibaldone section will also host the world premiere screening of Paolo Civati's documentary, “Ritratti di cinema”, produced by Wonder Project in collaboration with Rai Cinema and made with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Doc Film Fund.
“Ritratti di cinema” is an imaginary round table discussion in which nine iconic international film directors, Jane Campion, Tim Burton, Ruben Östlund, Asghar Farhadi, Pablo Larraín, Damien Chazelle, Paul Schrader, Peter Greenaway and Martin Scorsese, discuss the meaning of cinema and the mechanisms that have made their language unmistakable. It is a way of talking about cinema without analysing films or addressing technicalities. Ritratti di Cinema aims to be a journey into the profound themes found in the cinematography of these nine great auteurs, a way of tracing the deep roots of creativity.
Also noteworthy in the TFF programme is “Nel blu dipinto di rosso” by Torino-based director Stefano Di Polito, who has collaborated with FCTP on several occasions in the realisation of his previous projects.
Film Commission Torino Piemonte will also be involved once again in TFI Torino Film Industry, an initiative now in its 8th edition, which FCTP has coordinated since its inception and which will take place again this year at the Circolo dei lettori e delle lettrici in Turin from 20 to 25 November.
A market, meeting place and factory for international co-production, TFI Torino Film Industry is part of the activities of the ‘long month of cinema in Torino’, together with numerous partners, including, of course, the Torino Film Festival.
As every year, TFI Torino Film Industry will shine the spotlight on new talent and the latest trends in cinema and audiovisual media, bringing professionals, decision makers and players from the national and international market to the city: five days of events, masterclasses, pitching sessions and workshops designed to showcase the potential of the Turin cinema system and the institutions that represent it, through an increasingly diverse programme of events.
Among the many events scheduled – available on the website www.torinofilmindustry.it from 12 November – we would also like to highlight the presentation of the “Match” Award, a new project by Regione Piemonte, the Circolo dei lettori Foundation and the Film Commission Torino Piemonte, with the involvement of TFF Director Giulio Base, intended for literary works set in Torino or Piemonte that can be transformed into audiovisual products made in the region.
