After the world premiere at the MoMa in New York on Tuesday 20 August, the official trailer for “My Brilliant Friend” has been released, the series also filmed in Turin with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte in autumn 2022 and now in its fourth and final chapter. In Italy, the ten episodes directed by Laura Bispuri will arrive on Rai 1 from 11 November, while the American public will be able to follow the fourth season of the series - created by Saverio Costanzo and based on the tetralogy of novels by Elena Ferrante - on HBO Max from next 9 September.
The story resumes the story of Lila and Lenù based on the last book - "Storia della bambina perduta" - and starts in the mid-seventies: the two protagonists, now adults, are back in Naples dealing with personal events, children who come into the world and disasters such as the 1980 earthquake.
Among the new features of the fourth season is Alba Rohrwacher who combines her face with the narrator's voice and becomes a character in the role of Elena 'Lenù' Greco, replacing Margherita Mazzucco, while the new Lila is played by Irene Maiorino who replaces Gaia Girace. Nino Sarratore, previously played by Francesco Serpico, is played by Fabrizio Gifuni.
The series is produced by Wildside, Fandango and The Apartment with Umedia and Mowe for Rai Fiction, Hbo and TIMvision. It is distributed abroad by Fremantle in a subtitled version.
