There are three projects created with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte which will be presented at the next Settimana Internazionale della Critica: “Anywhere Anytime” in competition, the short film “Dark Globe” at the opening of SIC@SIC and the short film “Domenica sera” as closing event.

Anywhere Anytime, the debut film by the Turin director of Iranian origin Milad Tangshir will be presented as a world premiere at the 39th International Critics' Week, the only Italian film in competition.

The feature film - entirely made in Turin for 5 weeks in summer 2023 - will be one of the 7 projects of the autonomous and parallel section organized by the National Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI) as part of the Venice Biennale International Film Festival ( 28 August - 07 September 2024).

Written by the director himself together with the Turin-born Daniele Gaglianone and Andrea Giaime Alonge, Anywhere Anytime - produced by Young Films, Vivo film, Rai Cinema and made with the contribution of the PR FESR Piemonte 2021 - 2027 - “Piemonte Film TV Fund” call and with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – has an entirely Turin setting and employed on the set a crew almost entirely made up of local professionals and workers (among these, the assistant director Lorenzo De Nicola, the general organizer Danilo Goglio, the set designer Leonie Heys Cerchio, the costume designer Silvia Nebiolo, the live sound engineer Roberto Gambotto Remorino, the casting directors Luana Velliscig and Laura Leonardi, together with Enrico Giovannone as editor).

The protagonist of the story is a young 18-year-old irregular immigrant named Issa – played by Ibrahima Sambou, a non-professional actor, like the rest of the cast – who loses his job, finally finding a job as a rider but being robbed of his bicycle already the first day. Issa thus finds himself forced into a long search in various areas of the city, between Porta Palazzo and the outskirts of Barriera di Milano, in the hope of finding his work tool.

Opening the 39th SIC on Thursday 29 August will be another Piedmontese project, the short film Dark Globe directed by Donato Sansone, produced by the Turin-based Base Zero of Enrico Bisi and Stefano Cravero and made with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Short Film Fund: a project which, according to its director, is a fresco of today's world and the global madness - technically created with drawing on paper and stop-motion action - towards which we are sinking between war, climate change and overpopulation.

Saturday 7 September will be the turn of Domenica sera by Matteo Tortone - a short film produced by EiE Film in association with Malfè Film and Imago VFX and also made with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Short Film Fund - which will close the SIC telling the story of the young ultras Alex, of his meeting with the young rapper Nemy, of their solitudes crossing the city in a stolen car...
