On the 15th of February, the 74th edition of the Berlinale will get underway, and for this year as well it will feature the presence of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and the participation of two projects realized with its support.

The documentary film directed by Costanza Quatriglio, “Il cassetto segreto” (“The secret drawer”), will premiere internationally on the 20th of February, within the Forum section.

A sentimental tale that from the walls of a house hugs all of Sicily, Europe, and the world, across a century of history, “Il cassetto segreto” is produced by the Turinese company Indyca, Luce Cinecittà with Rai Cinema, co-produced by Rough Cat and RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera, and it is realized with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Doc Film Fund, the Sicily Region – Department of Tourism, Sport, and Performing Arts, Sicilia Film Commission, and the contribution of the MiC – General Management for Cinema and Audiovisuals.

It's also worth mentioning the presence of the new film by the Piedmontese director Irene Dionisio, “Idda” (“Her”, in Sicilian dialect) – produced by Kino Productions – at the Co-Production Market of the Berlinale, an event in which 600 selected international producers, sales agents, distributors, and broadcasters gather to support and promote international co-productions.

The feature film – which will be realized with the support of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund – is one of the 34 projects selected to represent 27 different countries.

Two childhood friends reconnect in their 30s to face the climbing of the Etna together. Between the slopes and the bowels of “Idda”, the woman-volcano, they discuss the deepest meaning of womanhood and find themselves, beyond the differences and the time that has passed, deeply united.

Gabriele Fabbro is present in the Piedmontese delegation too, director of “Trifole” (“Truffles”), the filming of which – realized with the contribution of PR FESR Piemonte 2021-2027 – Bando Piemonte Film TV Fund and the support of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte – has ended on November, and which will be featured in Berlin to receive the Bacco award as 2024 emerging director for his first work “The Grand Bolero”.
The new film by Gabriele Fabbro, “Trifole”, is a “modern fairytale” entirely shot in the Langhe territory, talking about truffles, sustainability, and family, with Margherita Buy, Umberto Orsini, and Ydalie Turk, and is now in its post-production phase.
