Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo's support for the new edition of the "Piemonte Film TV Development Fund" call is part of a two-year agreement with the Regione Piemonte and the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and it will guarantee the development fund € 700,000 for the two-year period 2023/24. Planning aimed at developing talents, new cinema, independent productions.

On May 25, the "Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund" Call opens with the first of two annual calls (May 25 – May 30 and then October 1 – December 15, 2023) and a budget of € 150,000, in favor of the development of feature films and fiction TV series. Support for a single project can vary from € 10,000 up to € 50,000.

The "Piemonte Film TV Development Fund" is the action aimed at developing fiction projects for cinema and TV, aimed at growing local production companies by guaranteeing support for the design phase of the audiovisual product and attracting non-Piedmontese production companies, encouraging them to settle and invest in the territory.

The Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, which took part a few days ago in Cannes in the "Piemonte Film Network" panel, invests directly in Film Commission Torino Piemonte - € 700,000 total for the two-year period 2023/24 - thus confirming its convinced support for the audio-video sector. An important economic commitment by a private institution that, together with the investments already made by the Regione Piemonte and the action of FCTP, reinforces the attention to the audiovisual supply chain recognized as a proven economic asset able to guarantee economic, professional and employment effects.

"In line with its strategic objectives, the Foundation recognizes that the Sistema Cinema Piemonte is a driver of development with an important economic impact on the territory -  says Francesco Profumo President of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo - It is in fact a sector that, much more than others, is able to activate resources and funding and generate significant effects,  also thanks to the widespread and virtuous action that Film Commission Torino Piemonte carries out in the territory. Support for development has in fact produced, in several cases, the transition to the production phase, intercepting new investments and determining a high qualified expenditure on the territory. We are therefore proud to be able to contribute to the strengthening of the supply chain by fully supporting the "Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund" for the two-year period 2023/2024. The Fund will enable new talents and independent productions to access the calls of the Region, generating positive effects for the entire territory."

With the support of Compagnia di San Paolo, another arrow is added to the bow of the Piedmont cinema system - underlined the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Commerce of the Regione Piemonte Vittoria Poggio - another booster that integrates and supports the most impressive programming dedicated to audiovisual started this year, from production to training. Successful trades attract investments, and the signal from our partner says just that: we are on the right track, we have teamed up. We just have to continue on this path, encouraged also by the appreciation received from foreign observers."

"We are extremely satisfied  to announce today the opening of this new call that represents a tool of enormous value for the growth of new talents and for the enhancement of creativity, elements that our Film Commission has always held in strong consideration, as well as support for large productions, with the aim of supporting the audiovisual industry in the round”. This is  how the President of Film Commission Torino Piemonte Beatrice Borgia comments, adding: "even more important is the possibility of guaranteeing solidity, continuity and implementing the design of the fund thanks to the Compagnia di San Paolo - which in the past has already shown to concretely support our activity with TFI Torino Film Industry - which today strengthens its action. This is a result achieved thanks to the agreement between the Regione Piemonte, Film Commission Torino Piemonte and the Compagnia di San Paolo and demonstrates the goals that can be achieved thanks to the interaction and synergy between public and private bodies."

The "Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund" is in fact an ideal aid measure to allow a qualitative leap to independent production companies - particularly attentive to the dynamics of innovation, professionalization and internationalization - to encourage their growth and allow the Piedmontese territory to attract and intercept national and international authorial creative impulses, enhancing the dimension of the creative fabric and  productive of our region.

At the same time, finally, the Fund will be able to concretely facilitate the birth of new ideas and projects accompanying them in the current global context of reference - which requires an increasing international perspective and presents complexities of co-financing through multiple public and private entities such as co-producers, TV broadcasters, digital platforms, sponsors, pre-sales on various distribution windows, supranational, state financing,  regional – and thus allowing to implement the various phases of "development" ranging from the option and the acquisition of rights to the research activity, from the script to the realization of the storyboard, from the preparation of a production budget and a financial plan to the search for partners and financiers up to the setting of marketing strategies. These are the elements that led the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation to structure an economic intervention in favor of the project, to be allocated to the 2 annual calls of 2023 and 2024 and  to targeted promotion and communication actions of the call within an international context made up of markets, reviews and international festivals. To ensure its solidity and implementation of this project, a two-year agreement was also signed  between Compagnia di San Paolo, the Piedmont Region and the Fondazione Film Commission Torino Piemonte. This agreement is also part of the 2023-2026 multi-year agreement between  the Piedmont Region and Compagnia to support strategic projects in the fields of culture, people and the planet.
