From first works to independent cinema, from debuts to reaffirmations of successful authors in the international audiovisual landscape: at the 79th Venice International Film Festival – which will take place in Lido, from the 31st of August to the 11th of September 2022 – Film Commission Torino Piemonte supported and presented 6 projects, in various sections of the official program, the Critics’ Week, and the Giornate degli Autori.
This varied participation once again affirms the energy of the Piedmontese industry and shows the results of the funds made available by the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and the Regione Piemonte.
The Orizzonti Extra competition will witness the debut of the young director and screenwriter Carolina Cavalli, who will bring Benedetta Porcaroli to the big screen with her movie “Amanda”, along with Galatéa Bellugi, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, and Michele Bravi.
Fully filmed in Turin in the fall of 2021, “Amanda” – which was produced by Elsinore Film with Wildside, society of the Fremantle group, and Tenderstories, in collaboration with I Wonder Pictures – was developed with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund and successively produced with the contribution of the POR FESR Piemonte 2014-2020 – Azione III.3c.1.2. – “Piemonte Film TV Fund” call.
Venezia 79’s Out of Competition chose to present the last work by Enrico Ghezzi and Alessandro Gagliardo, “Gli ultimi giorni dell’umanità”, produced by Matango in collaboration with Rai Cinema and realized with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Doc Film Fund.
SIC - Venice International Film Critics’ Week will end its schedule with “Happy Birthday”, a short film by the Turin author Giorgio Ferrero, produced by the Turin society Mybosswas: the project is born from the feature film in development “White Days” – supported by Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund.
The young Turin group of Epica Film – Alice Drago, Matteo Fresi, and Federico Lagna – was selected to take part in the Biennale College Cinema - Virtual Reality with the short film “Mono” by Chiara Troisi, realized with the support of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Short Film Fund and developed during the Biennale College Cinema VR, 4th edition (2019/2020).
The 19th edition of Giornate degli Autori - Venice Days has chosen to select two more projects realized with Piedmontese funds: Roberta Torre’s feature film “Le favolose”, a Stemal Entertainment, Faber Produzioni with Rai Cinema, produced by Donatella Palermo, from a project developed thanks to the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund – will be presented during Venetian Nights.
Daniele Gaglianone will also be back at the Lido to present his latest documentary, “Se fate i bravi”, during Venetian Nights: the movie, realized with Stefano Collizzolli, was produced by Samarcanda Film and Zalab, and with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte - Piemonte Doc Film Fund.
