A year after its launch, the European project AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+ brought its network together at the AVENUE Summit, an opportunity to see the collaboration in action and share what is working.
This is the question at the heart of AVENUE: how do we build vocational education that keeps pace with Europe's rapidly changing creative industries? Across Europe, the project's Centres of Vocational Excellence bring together expertise spanning animation, games and virtual production to XR and visual storytelling, connecting education, industry and applied research to explore how vocational learning can respond to the skills, technologies and working practices that are transforming these sectors.
The Summit, held in Viborg in September 2026, brought together research and emerging findings from across the project, experiences from the residencies, new approaches to education and training, and collaborations developing both within the AVENUE consortium and with its growing network of partners and associate partners. It was also an opportunity to bring the ecosystems into dialogue: what animation can learn from games, what virtual production can share with visual storytelling and XR, and how knowledge developed within one regional ecosystem can create value across the wider European creative landscape.
Film Commission Torino Piemonte took part as Ecosystem Driver of the XR Ecosystem, the research space coordinated by Politecnico di Torino, one of Italy's leading technical universities, renowned for excellence in teaching, research and innovation. With a strong grounding in science, engineering and architecture, Politecnico di Torino is at the forefront of research and development in Extended Reality (XR), which encompasses Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). The ecosystem is developed in close collaboration with Film Commission Torino Piemonte, the regional driver for the audiovisual and digital creative sectors, and is supported by the associate partner CSC Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Sede Piemonte Animazione, joined by Cartoon Italia. Together, these players foster a dynamic environment for experimentation, co-creation and applied innovation in XR.
