Within the European project AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+, in which Film Commission Torino Piemonte is a partner as Ecosystem Driver of the XR Ecosystem, Politecnico di Torino is offering courses, workshops, meetings and an art installation from October to December 2026, exploring how digital technologies are changing the way we tell stories, make art and learn.

The programme begins in October with artificial intelligence. "AI-powered Virtual Humans", a hands-on course in two parts, shows how to build a virtual character that truly converses with people. In Part 1, on 21 and 23 October, participants create the character in 3D, with movements and voice synchronised to lip movements. In Part 2, on 29 and 30 October, they build the "brain" that allows it to remember and respond, starting from a chatbot. Participants can attend the full course or just one of the two parts. On 26 October, the workshop "Slow Violence. Ontologia della rottura", led by Carlo Gioia and the Radura collective, takes participants around Torino with their smartphones to look for traces of slow transformation in the urban environment. For info and to apply: HERE.

Then, on 6 November, during the Urban Desires festival, "Slow Violence. Ontologia della rottura #1" is presented in the Chapel of Valentino Castle: an immersive installation by media artist Carlo Gioia, born from a residency at Politecnico within AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+. Through a camera inspired by how the human eye works, it explores "slow violence", the gradual, almost invisible transformations that change our cities. A cycle of three video podcasts is dedicated to these themes, covering society, cultural heritage and the artist's work. For info: HERE.

On 18 and 19 November, the course "Play to Learn" shows how augmented reality games, with digital content overlaid on the real world, can be used to teach in an engaging way. For info and to apply: HERE.

In December, "XR Fundamentals for Media Professionals", a one-week afternoon course from 14 to 18 December, is designed for audiovisual professionals who want to understand virtual and augmented reality, with no prior experience required. For info and to apply: HERE.

The activities are promoted by Politecnico di Torino as part of the AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+ project, in which Film Commission Torino Piemonte is a partner as Ecosystem Driver of the XR Ecosystem.
